My First Week in Kenya:

Hello everyone!

I am thrilled to share an update about my time here in Kenya. Although I’ve only been here for a week, it feels like much longer—in the best way possible!

The first few days were spent settling in and adjusting to the time difference (jet lag is no fun!), but then we hit the ground running. Well, sort of! The past two days have been rest days, which I’m thankful for. Despite that, this week has been amazing!

On Sunday, we attended church at Illula Baptist Church in Eldoret. It was a beautiful time of fellowship and worship. Church isn’t just about being in a big building or having fancy lights and sound systems—although there’s nothing wrong with using those things in a manner that solely brings glory to the Lord. Church is about the people, and those I’ve encountered here in Kenya truly understand that. The community has been such an encouragement to me.

From Tuesday to Thursday, we visited different churches in the region to conduct training on children’s ministry, led by Michael and Regina Hudson, whom I am serving with. They did a fantastic job, and I was happy to support them wherever needed. I’m so grateful for their hearts for serving the Lord. These days were long but incredibly fulfilling.

Interestingly, I used to attend church with Michael and Regina at Decatur Baptist. When I was involved in children’s ministry, they were the ones leading it! Now, we’re serving together here in Kenya—talk about a God thing! Only He could orchestrate something like that.

Overall, the first week has been wonderful! I’m excited for what the Lord has in store over the next couple of months. It’s my prayer that I can step back and allow Him to do what only He can do!
